Avengers: Doomsday Trivia Quiz โ Everything You Need to Know
The MCU's next chapter begins with its greatest villain.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives May 2, 2026 โ and it's not just another Marvel film. It's the culmination of the entire Multiverse Saga, the return of the Russo Brothers, and the MCU debut of Doctor Doom, played by none other than Robert Downey Jr.
How well do you know the MCU history that led to this moment?
Take the Avengers: Doomsday Trivia Quiz โ
The Road to Doomsday
From The Kang Dynasty to Doomsday
The film was originally announced as *Avengers: The Kang Dynasty* โ a sequel to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania that would have brought Kang the Conqueror to the forefront of the MCU. After the creative direction shifted following Jonathan Majors's exit, Marvel made a stunning pivot: Victor Von Doom would replace Kang as the Multiverse Saga's primary antagonist, with Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the role.
The renaming to *Doomsday* was announcement enough โ Marvel was taking the gloves off.
Robert Downey Jr. Returns (But Not as Tony Stark)
When Robert Downey Jr. walked onstage at San Diego Comic-Con to announce his return to Marvel, the crowd lost its mind before realizing: this isn't Iron Man. This is Doctor Doom. It's the same actor, a different character entirely โ and the casting is a masterstroke.
RDJ built a decade of audience trust and affection as Tony Stark. Now he gets to play someone who looks familiar but is actually a monarch, a sorcerer, and potentially the most dangerous human being alive in the MCU. The cognitive dissonance is the whole point.
The Russo Brothers Return
Anthony and Joe Russo directed *Captain America: Civil War*, *Avengers: Infinity War*, and *Avengers: Endgame* โ three of the most successful and critically acclaimed films in MCU history. Their return for Doomsday reunites the core creative team responsible for the MCU's peak, which raises expectations considerably.
Who Is Doctor Doom?
Victor Von Doom is Marvel's most complex villain โ and arguably its most fascinating character, period.
Origin: Born in Latveria to a Romani woman who sold her soul to Mephisto, Victor grew up in poverty before becoming a genius scientist and sorcerer. A lab accident scarred his face (arguably only slightly โ but Victor's perfectionism wouldn't allow even a small scar), and he had his iron mask fitted before the wound fully healed, permanently scarring himself to match the mask's image. Classic Doom.
Powers: Doom is one of the rare Marvel characters who is simultaneously a scientific genius AND a master sorcerer. He built a suit of armor to rival Iron Man. He's conquered the world more than once. He's literally stolen the Infinity Gauntlet and the Power Cosmic and used them competently โ something few characters in Marvel comics have managed.
What makes him different: Doom genuinely believes he's the hero of his own story. He rules Latveria with an iron fist, but his people are genuinely safe and cared for. He's not a nihilist or a thrill-seeker โ he has a code. He wants to save the world his way, which unfortunately requires ruling it.
The Fantastic Four Connection
Doctor Doom's nemesis in comics is Reed Richards, and with the Fantastic Four now in the MCU (following their 2025 film with Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic), the stage is set for their rivalry to define Doomsday's central conflict.
In the comics, Doom and Reed were classmates at university before their catastrophic falling out. Doom blames Reed for the lab accident that scarred him โ Reed insists his calculations were correct and Doom made the error. It's the foundational grudge that's driven decades of conflict.
What to Expect from Doomsday
The Multiverse has been cracked open since Loki Season 1, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and No Way Home. Doom โ a character who has conquered realities in the comics โ is perfectly positioned to be the architect of whatever comes next.
The film likely serves as the setup for *Avengers: Secret Wars*, the concluding chapter of the Multiverse Saga, in which Doom has historically played a central role.
